Last night after I got off the phone I read a chapter of this book I got a couple weeks ago, Lonesome Traveler by Jack Kerouac, it's kind of an autobiography of all his travels.. and I read the chapter about New York.. and oh my gosh, it was just amazing. I honestly have never read anything by him before, but I can see why everyone loves him. His writing is pure magic.. he writes about all these little beautiful details, these little aspects of people and scenery that not everybody would care to mention let alone appreciate. The chapter about NY talks about how him and his beatnik friends would spend their nights in New York and how they have no money so they just stand on street corners and watch people.. go to Times Square and walk around.. or go to cheap jazz clubs and drink a cheap beer.. it made me want to be standing in the Village last night, watching the snow, watching people go about their lives.. my favorite part:
“I did everything with that great mad joy you get when you return to New York City.”
I love NY. I want to go back!!
