right now there's really cool stuff going on at www.moveon.org, they're running their own democratic presidential primary, and whoever gets 50% or more of the votes, that's who they will endorse. it's gotten some significant attention already, and the voting goes until midnight tonight. you can read about all of the candidates and after you sign up they'll send you an email ballot. the idea is like any other party nomination, to get everyone behind a single democratic candidate and help further the chance of beating bush. only it's the first time it's being done online and to such an extent. i think it's awesome, i couldn't decide between dean or kucinich but i decided on kucinich, who happens to stand for everything i believe in, totally equal gay rights, no death penalty, a much smaller military budget, a department of peace, education, etc.. something i've never found before. he very much stands for peace and the crazy idea of a president listening to his/her people. and i found out he's an ohio representative from cleveland which is pretty cool. anyway, just wanted to spead the word.
update: just got an email from moveon.org, they said that already more people have cast their ballots than participated in the 2000 Democratic primaries in New Hampshire and the caucuses in Iowa combined. not bad!
also, check this out, this is kucinich's latest project:
Dear friend,
The President took the nation to war based on his assertion that Iraq posed an imminent threat to our country. Now the evidence that backed that assertion is falling apart.
If the Bush administration distorted intelligence or knowingly used false data to support the call to war, it would be an unprecedented deception. Even if weapons are now found, it'll be difficult to justify pre-war language that indicated that the exact location of the
weapons was known and that they were ready to deploy at a moment's notice. With a crisis of credibility brewing abroad and the integrity of our President and our foreign policy on the line, we need answers now.
Please join me in asking Congress to establish an independent, bipartisan commission to investigate the distortion of evidence now, at:
http://www.moveon.org/distortion/
A President may make no more important decision than whether or not to take a country to war. If Bush and his officials deceived the American public to create support for the Iraq war, they need to be held accountable.
Thanks.
