• First dog death of this year’s Iditarod reported

  The dog, named Yellowknife, was a 4-year-old male. Yellowknife was dropped at the Rohn checkpoint on Tuesday and flown back to Anchorage for treatment, he died while hospitalized.

• U.S. unemployment rate heads higher

  The U.S. unemployment rate rose to 4.8% last month.
