Well wouldn’t you know, it’s a four-way tie between George W. Bush, George W. Bush, George W. Bush, and— well you get it… Yes, the man who frequently blows away the competition with his combination of bunker-busting explosives and reinventation of the English language has done it once again. All four quotes in one day, in fact, from a press conference regarding the Iraq Study Group’s recently released report on the Iraq war.
“…Truth of the matter is, a lot of reports in Washington are never read by anybody. To show you how important this one is, I read it…”
Reporter: “Mr. President, the Iraq Study Group described the situation in Iraq as grave and deteriorating. You said that the increase in attacks is unsettling. That won’t convince many people that you’re still in denial about how bad things are in Iraq, and question your sincerity about changing course.”
“It’s bad in Iraq. Does that help?”
::followed by his classic and weasel-ish snicker::
“I understand how tough it is. And I’ve been telling the American people how tough it is. And they know how tough it is.”
“I believe we’ll prevail. Not only do I know how important it is to prevail, I believe we will prevail. I understand how hard it is to prevail.”
How can our country ever go wrong or feel misguided with such an eloquent and intelligent man leading the way? We will prevail!
