Yes, Mr. Kucinich, IT’S TIME.

No bad news in this post. Time for some I N S P I R A T I O N !

The first bit of hope is a video (by Columbus IndyMedia) of Saturday’s protest at the Federal Building here in Columbus.

The second is something we’ve all been waiting for. You may have heard last week that Ohio’s own Rep. Dennis Kucinich said the “I” word on the House floor.

“Since war with Iran is an option of this Administration and since such war is patently illegal, then impeachment may well be the only remedy which remains to stop a war of aggression against Iran.”

Now Kucinish has gone even further and has sent out a video appeal to the nation, asking US, is it time?

We cannot let this administration go any deeper into this journey, into destroying democratic governance, trashing our Constitution, forgetting the very purpose of this nation. America was never meant to be a nation forever on the warpath. It was meant to be a nation which also had the capacity to “Promote the General Welfare.”

We need to reevaluate the direction of this administration by looking at its conduct in office, by determining whether it has faithfully followed the laws of our nation.

I’m prepared to start that process. I began this week with a speech on the floor of the house, which warned the administration that its actions toward Iran already constitute a case to ask the question about impeachment.

So I’m asking you, what do you think? Do you think it’s time?

Tell him it’s time.

Today’s Dispatch article

Sometimes it’s just cooler to see a real article vs. the online version. Plus then you get to see the page placement, and it’s the main article on page 4!

And as it turns out, even though none of our quotes got in, they decided to put a picture of me in there, random huh? But it’s a great thing only because it got them to print “Columbus 9/11 Truth“!! HA! The moonbats made it in!

Protest 4 years of Iraq OCCUPATION (not war) this Sunday @ Little Brother’s

Day of Music, Love,
Peace, and Resistance

This Sunday it will be 4 years since the United States ILLEGALLY and IMMORALLY invaded Iraq, using September 11th as justification.

Since then we have lost over 3,218 US soldiers, over 23,785 have been maimed and injured, anywhere from 100,000-655,000 Iraqi civilians have been killed, over 2 MILLION Iraqis fortunate enough to get out alive are now refugees, and over $408 BILLION has been spent.

AND FOR WHAT?

Join us for a day of protest, music, speakers, and unity. A day to refuel, remember what we’re up against, and what wonderful people we have in the trenches with us. It’s all ages and a meager $2 will get you in.

Sponsored by Columbus 9/11 Truth, the Columbus chapter of World Can’t Wait, and other local peace groups.

Khalid Sheikh Mohammed eh? Okay 9/11 Truth, guess that’s a wrap.

Khalid Sheikh Mohammed!

“I was responsible for the 9/11 operation, from A to Z”

This guy right here.

Turns out I was wrong about that silly 9/11 Truth thing! CNN’s got the whole story, check it out for yourself. Or if you’d rather not read it all, I’ll highlight the good parts:

Khalid Sheikh Mohammed has admitted responsibility for the 9/11 attacks and a catalog of other terrorist acts, according to an edited transcript of a tribunal at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

“I was responsible for the 9/11 operation, from A to Z,” Mohammed said Saturday through a U.S. military representative at the American base.

Mohammed takes responsibility for 29 operations, the transcript shows.

I get the feeling that the only source this story is using is an “edited transcript released by the Pentagon.” But it’s from the Pentagon, and they always tell the truth! Plus it was a closed and unconstitutional hearing at Guantanamo with no due and transparent process, now that’s the American Way!

The three-member military panel hearings … were closed to the media and to the detainees’ lawyers because of fears the detainees might divulge classified information, according to Pentagon officials.

Okay, so no lawyer representation and as a detainee he doesn’t get to see the evidence held against him — that’s ok, f–k the Bill of Rights, we’re in a time of war! I’m sure the military panel had the courtesy to speak in Arabic so he could actually understand them. And as we all know, the U.S. does not torture so he must have willingly admitted all of these things. Okay. Fine. Spoon feed it please, I’ll take it!

So now we know:

  • Khalid Sheikh Mohammed planted the explosives in all three WTC buildings weeks or months beforehand so they would all fall neatly in their footprint and at freefall speed instead of slowly falling apart and making a god-awful and chaotic mess.
  • Khalid Sheikh Mohammed made sure Bush had the Bin Laden family safely flown out of the country following 9/11, even though the FAA grounded all flights.
  • Khalid Sheikh Mohammed was the one who placed put-options on United and American airline stocks in the days leading up to the attacks.
  • Khalid Sheikh Mohammed told Larry Silverstein he should sign a 99-year lease for the WTC complex and take out a $3.5 billion insurance policy 7 weeks before 9/11.
  • Khalid Sheikh Mohammed called military officials and other federal insiders and warned them not to fly on 9/11.
  • Khalid Sheikh Mohammed succeeded in causing the first-ever collapse due to fire of a steel-framed high-rise building. Three in one day, even, and it hasn’t happened since!
  • Khalid Sheikh Mohammed helped Hani Hanjour improve his flying skills after learning he couldn’t even handle a Cessna. In the end he was able to complete a 270-degree turn in a Boeing 757 and crash right into the part of the Pentagon that happened to be under renovation.
  • Khalid Sheikh Mohammed figured out how to get a 757 with a wingspan of over 120 ft. into a 16 foot hole in the Pentagon.
  • Khalid Sheikh Mohammed told Mr. Bush that he wasn’t a target in the attack so he didn’t have to run off and hide in a bunker when he first heard about it, he could just stay in the classroom and not worry about the safety of the children.
  • Khalid Sheikh Mohammed told the FAA, NORAD, and the Pentagon to ignore standard operating procedures and not interfere with the flight paths of the planes, even though any other day they’d have been intercepted within 10 minutes.
  • Khalid Sheikh Mohammed made sure Flight 93 left no wreckage at all and only left a teeny tiny hole in the ground with no forensic evidence for the coroner to inspect.
  • Khalid Sheikh Mohammed told officials that even though the WTC wreckage was crime scene evidence, it would be okay to sell it for scrap and not keep it around for investigation.
  • Khalid Sheikh Mohammed had a vested interest in the success of the Project for a New American Century’s empirical military plans and wanted to make billions for Cheney and Halliburton and the entire military industrial complex.

Dang, this guy is GOOD!

2pm Update: This post is currently being featured on BuzzFeed, welcome BuzzFeeders!

Happy Birthday Einstein

I have a newfound admiration for Albert Einstein, thanks to a book I’m currently reading called Rebel Lives. His political and social justice involvements seem to be completely overlooked by all the telling of his scientific accomplishments. Think about it, when you learned about him in school, did they ever say anything about his work against McCarthyism or his fight for world peace?

Seems we still have much to learn (after how many years??):

“Large parts of the world are faced with starvation, while others are living in abundance. The nations were promised liberation and justice, but we have witnessed and are witnessing, even now, the sad spectacle of liberating armies firing into populations who want their independence and social equality, and supporting in those countries by force of arms, such parties and personalities as appear to be most suited to serve vested interests. Territorial questions and arguments of power, obsolete though they are, still prevail over the essential demands of common welfare and justice.”

To highlight his insight beyond the scope of science, simply as a fellow man, I’m choosing to feature one of his essays (shortened version) written in 1931, enjoy.

The World As I See It

By Albert Einstein

How strange is the lot of us mortals! Each of us is here for a brief sojourn; for what purpose he knows not, though he sometimes thinks he senses it. But without deeper reflection one knows from daily life that one exists for other people — first of all for those upon whose smiles and well-being our own happiness is wholly dependent, and then for the many, unknown to us, to whose destinies we are bound by the ties of sympathy. A hundred times every day I remind myself that my inner and outer life are based on the labors of other men, living and dead, and that I must exert myself in order to give in the same measure as I have received and am still receiving…

I have never looked upon ease and happiness as ends in themselves — this critical basis I call the ideal of a pigsty. The ideals that have lighted my way, and time after time have given me new courage to face life cheerfully, have been Kindness, Beauty, and Truth. Without the sense of kinship with men of like mind, without the occupation with the objective world, the eternally unattainable in the field of art and scientific endeavors, life would have seemed empty to me. The trite objects of human efforts — possessions, outward success, luxury — have always seemed to me contemptible.

Columbus Dispatch chooses Homer Simpson over Constitution

Once you start looking critically at mainstream media, it becomes hard to go back to being a passive reader/viewer/listener. Today’s Columbus Dispatch is a perfect example.

On the front page towards the bottom you will see an article titled “Ohio’s Springfield to Homer: ‘Pick me!’ – Cities of same name vie for movie premiere

You may think nothing of it, although it’d be nice if you thought “that’s a front-page worthy story? Is that all that’s going on in the world right now?”

Next we’ll flip to the last page of the main section, A10. Along with a large ad for some great mattress deals you’ll see an article titled “Hearings start for Guantanamo detainees.”

I guess the optimist in me would have hoped that the beginning of “a series of closed hearings yesterday to determine whether 14 alleged terrorist leaders … should be declared ‘enemy combatants’ who can be held indefinitely and prosecuted by military tribunals” would have garnered more attention and been placed on the front page. I mean these trials are UNCONSTITUTIONAL after all. Not to mention the TORTURE at Guantanamo Bay that most turn a blind eye to for fear of having to act on their cognitive dissonance and betrayal of humanity.

Care for some Habeas Corpus or Bill of Rights? Oh wait, we tossed both of those out the window along with our greasy cardboard container of Freedom Fries…

Anti-9/11 Truth article in today’s Columbus Dispatch

On page A9 of today’s paper, there’s an opinion article lovingly titled “Nutty 9/11 flick gains following in the West.”

Gwynne Dyer, a UK journalist, basically tries to discredit the entire 9/11 Truth Movement based on the theories proposed in Loose Change. One source. Don’t you learn about the importance of using primary, secondary, and multiple sources in journalism school?

“…the argument is pure paranoid fantasy, and it is rotting people’s brains.”

Oh, here I thought I just had a caffeine headache.

It’s pretty hilarious actually. I think it’s safe to say that not many of us in the movement believe every idea proposed by Dylan Avery. We all agree it’s one of the more extreme films in the 9/11 Truth world, but it’s also that extremism that has gotten us this far. It was Loose Change that I watched 3 years ago that got the gears going in my head. The gears that cranked open my eyes.

Aside from only using one source to come to his conclusion, Dyer also does not address the scientific arguments against the official 9/11 story, the ones that are far easier to understand than the political underpinnings. The fact that the buildings fell at near-freefall speed in the exact manner of a controlled demolition. The fact that 40 STEEL support columns magically disappeared. The fact that no steel-framed skyscraper has ever collapsed from fire, not before or after 9/11. The fact that there is NO PLANE to be found at the Pentagon “crash” site. The fact that even if there was a plane, the hole in the Pentagon was TINY and a 757 would never have fit. The list goes on. He did not research anything. He just says “I don’t believe that happened.” WOW what a smashing argument! Forget all that stuff I said about physics and science, what was I thinking?!

“I don’t believe that happened because I don’t think that Tenet, Rice, Powell et al. would have plotted the deaths of thousands of Americans. I don’t believe even Cheney would have done that.”

Oh and we mustn’t forget:

“…by linking their fantasies about 9/11 to the Bush administration’s deliberate deception of the American people in order to gain support for the invasion of Iraq, they bring discredit on the truth and the nonsense alike.”

Discredit on the truth? Seriously? Sort of a hypocritical statement considering he made no effort to research the truth himself. He goes by what has been spoon fed into his mouth and that was enough to satisfy him. To his credit, he did mention the Project for a New American Century, something many Americans have probably never heard of, even though it is the foundation of the Bush Administration’s war-profiteering and fear-mongering agenda.

But again, this is a classic case of dismissal for illogical reasons. Laziness really. Some people see two plates in front of them: one has the official story from the U.S. government with some avocado and what looks to be pesto on the side, though the avocado is a little too brown and they really don’t like pesto and can’t understand what people see in it. The other plate has some experimental dishes by the losers from Top Chef, the display is horrible, they forgot the parsley, and there’s dried food bits stuck on the spoon. Instead of demanding something else because neither looks very pleasing, they shrug and take the brown avocado plate. Since when have Americans been bad at demanding things? Why do we have Wal-Marts filled with millions of choices for consumption but here it’s one choice or the other? Why does it have to be the official story or the Loose Change story and that’s it? What ever happened to the whole truth and nothing but the truth?

“The greater conspiracy theory, on the other hand, is just plain loony, and yet more and more people are falling for it in the West, where it was once the exclusive domain of people with counter-rotating eyeballs and poor hygiene.”

If this article bothers you, I suggest responding to the Dispatch by way of a Letter to the Editor, and copy Dyer on that too. We need to FLOOD them with letters in opposition to Dyer’s ridiculous dismissal of truth. The same way the Towers were flooded with jet fuel hot enough to melt steel. What– – you didn’t know you could melt steel with jet fuel / a.k.a. refined kerosene?

To end on a good note, yes— the article isn’t in favor of the Truth movement. At least not overtly. However, it is still mainstream media coverage and as a friend said to me this morning, hopefully people will see through the illogical points that Dyer tries to make and it will actually end up benefiting the movement. Perhaps they’ll put the paper down, go to the computer, and Google “Loose Change”. They’ll watch it, disagree with parts, but move on to other films like “Press for Truth” or “In Plane Site” or “9/11 Mysteries.” Maybe they’ll get so ambitious as to READ A BOOK, like “New Pearl Harbor” or “9/11 Commission Report: Omissions and Distortions” or “9/11 and American Empire.” My point is, there are SO many resources out there, it is sheer laziness to make up your mind after considering only one viewpoint.

THINK FOR YOURSELF and look at ALL sides of this hegemonic hexagonal helium-filled balloon they’re trying to shove up— okay you get my point.
