Truckers to circle White House and block DC outerbelt in protest

Protesting what? The North American Union. Never heard of the NAU? That’s exactly how they like it…

From the John Birch Society:
Thanks to the now-infamous North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), Mexican truckers will soon be allowed to travel within the United States free of any security checkpoints at our nation’s border.

Historically, truckers from Mexico were allowed to cross into the United States, but were required to unload their cargo within 20-miles of crossing the U.S./Mexican border. President Bush has since launched a new pilot program that would allow Mexican truckers to travel freely on U.S. highways and interstates, a move that would greatly undermine the security of the United States.

Aside from the obvious security threat that would be posed by an unregulated flow of cross-border traffic, American truckers are concerned with job security. Mexican truckers are not restricted with the same regulations that American truckers are required to abide by. Therefore, American jobs would be threatened by Mexican truckers who would be willing to work for a much lower wage. Frosty Wooldridge, a trucker advocate from Colorado, is greatly concerned for his job. Wooldridge said in a public statement, “if this pilot program goes through, you’ll see the disappearance of American trucking jobs.”

Wooldridge has responded to this threat by organizing a truckers protest that is scheduled to take place in Washington, D.C. on April 23-24. This protest has been termed a “Truck Out” and will involve American truckers who, after driving their large rigs into Washington, will circle the White House, essentially constructing a rolling blockade. Latest update on today’s protest from SaveAmericaFund.org:

“Today, as our truckers and concerned citizens lined up to get onto the D.C. beltway, reports coming in have informed us that the truckers were told by the D.C. police that if the truckers were not carrying a valid load with a proper bill of lading and tried to access the D.C. beltway, they would be ticketed. All the big rig traffic trying to access the D.C. beltway was averted away from the beltway.”

Happy Earth Day

The Earth, as seen from Voyager 1, 1990

“That’s here. That’s home. That’s us. On it, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever lived, lived out their lives. The aggregate of all our joys and sufferings, thousands of confident religions, ideologies and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilizations, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every hopeful child, every mother and father, every inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every superstar, every supreme leader, every saint and sinner in the history of our species, lived there on a mote of dust, suspended in a sunbeam.”
- Carl Sagan

Happy Earth Day, my fellow humans.

Sagan is absolutely right, as huge as our problems are, we are still but a mere speck of dust in this vast universe. But that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t take care of our precious piece of dust— it is, after all, the only one we’ve got.

I hope everyone did at least a little something this weekend to take care of our dying planet, it’s the least we can do to make up for the other 364 days we trash the place. We must, every day, combat the endless War on our tortured Terra being waged by the Bush Administration.

Here’s what I did, along with Mary Jo Kilroy, fellow members of World Can’t Wait, Columbus 9/11 Truth, and many others around Columbus. Thanks to Gen. Bruce for the video.

Overcome evil with good?

“It’s impossible to make sense of such violence and suffering. Those whose lives were taken did nothing to deserve their fate. They were simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.

… In times like this, we can find comfort in the grace and guidance of a loving God. As the Scriptures tells us, don’t be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.”

- George W. Bush

If only George would apply those words to everyone, in all contexts.
If only George was actually capable of feeling sympathy and compassion.
If only George could overcome his own evil.
If only our 3,691 murdered soldiers and hundreds of thousands of murdered Iraqi civilians got such attention.

Shouldn’t our flags be perpetually flying at half-mast and upside-down?

The news you need to know

Rosie was right. The pet food recall… Imus… and now a barbaric school shooting that will surely dominate the headlines for days to come. Our government loves news days like this.

- Remember Gonzales?

- Did you hear about the 6 Iraqi cabinet members quitting?

- The 3,653 U.S. soldiers killed by two illegal occupations justified by lies?

- Have you noticed that all political news is now focused on the 2008 Presidential election? Not what’s going on right NOW. Not the complete inability of Congress to stand up to Bush, get our civil liberties back, repair our broken Constitution and Bill of Rights, and heed the demands of a majority of Americans calling for an IMMEDIATE end to the Iraq occupation.

Don’t be distracted.

Every day: Our military perpetrates this kind of violence.
Every day: Iraqi civilians risk their lives when they go to the market.
Every day: Our troops risk their lives trying to calm the chaotic stew of a country their Commander in Chief stirred up and mercilessly threw them into.
Every day: The roads blow up underneath them.
Every day: The families of 9/11 victims wonder what really happened to their loved ones and why their deaths are being used to justify so much violence and destruction.

Our media doesn’t deliver the news you need to know. It delivers what they want you to know. Seven corporations control ALL of your tv channels.

You can’t be lazy anymore, you have to get the news for yourself, dig a little, read news from outside the U.S. Don’t assume that if it’s not on the front page it’s not important. Likewise, don’t assume that if it is on the front page it is important. Usually it’s the back pages that hold the real stories.

EDUCATE & INFORM YOURSELF.

Columbus 9/11 Truth trip to Ann Arbor

Yesterday, four members of Columbus 9/11 Truth, including 3 OSU Alumni and one current OSU student, traveled 3.5 hours up to Ann Arbor, to the forbidden campus of the University of Michigan. We attended Ann Arbor 9/11 Truth’s event, “Truth Strikes Back” which included a film festival, talks by Kevin Ryan, Dr. Kevin Barrett, and a presentation by William Rodriguez.

Kevin RyanKevin Ryan is former Site Manager for Environmental Health Laboratories, a division of Underwriters Laboratories (UL), the company that certified the steel components used in the construction of the World Trade Center towers. Ryan, a Chemist and laboratory manager, was fired by UL in 2004 for publicly questioning the report being drafted by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) on their World Trade Center investigation.

Kevin BarrettAlso present was Dr. Kevin Barrett, a Lecturer at the University of Wisconsin, the founder of MUJCA (Muslim Jewish Christian Alliance), and a member of Scholars for 9/11 Truth.

Ann Arbor 9/11 Truth intended to hold a debate, with Barrett & Ryan going against defenders of the government’s official story of 9/11 put forth by the 9/11 Commission. They sent invitations/requests to Univ. of Michigan physics professors, engineering professors, and the “Young Americans for Freedom” group but none would come to defend the 9/11 Commission Report.

William RodriguezThe last part of the event was an extremely moving presentation by William Rodriguez, a janitor who worked at the North Tower of the World Trade Center for 20 years.

By stroke of luck or fate, he was late for work that day and was still in the basement when the plane hit, rather than being at the top where he would’ve been any other day. He saved countless lives, including rescuing two men trapped in a basement elevator, a co-worker burned extensively by the first explosion in the basement, confused office workers on upper floors who didn’t know how to get to the stairs, and most notably by leading firemen up the stairwells and unlocking the fire doors with his master key. He is thought by many to be the last man out, surviving the collapse by diving under a firetruck and hiding his face under his shirt to avoid being suffocated by the ensuing dust that followed.

After fighting alongside many others, including fellow survivors and families of the victims, for an official investigation by the government, he testified before the 9/11 Commission. His story includes hearing multiple explosions inside the building, in the basement and upper levels, both before and after the plane hit. His testimony was held behind closed doors and was completely omitted from the final report. He has fought for fellow survivors and the victim’s families since day one— wanting a new, open, independent, and inclusive investigation. If anyone is hesitant to doubt the official story before hearing him, they wouldn’t be afterwards.

It was an honor and a privilege to meet Mr. Rodriguez and we hope to bring him to Columbus soon so others may have the experience of hearing his story.

Up @ 6am… going to Ann Arbor

Why in the world would I want to do that on a Saturday??

Well, for one, to see a talk by William Rodriguez, the last man out of the WTC North Tower, a janitor with the only master key who led firefighters up the stairs and unlocked the firedoors to the stairways (they were locked, hmm that’s odd)… also seeing a 9/11 debate and a film festival.

Minus the cold and 7 hours of driving, should be an exciting day!

Early morning, April 4
Shot rings out in the Memphis sky
Free at last, they took your life
They could not take your pride

In the name of love
What more in the name of love
In the name of love
What more in the name of love…
