Overcome evil with good?

“It’s impossible to make sense of such violence and suffering. Those whose lives were taken did nothing to deserve their fate. They were simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.

… In times like this, we can find comfort in the grace and guidance of a loving God. As the Scriptures tells us, don’t be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.”

- George W. Bush

If only George would apply those words to everyone, in all contexts.
If only George was actually capable of feeling sympathy and compassion.
If only George could overcome his own evil.
If only our 3,691 murdered soldiers and hundreds of thousands of murdered Iraqi civilians got such attention.

Shouldn’t our flags be perpetually flying at half-mast and upside-down?

Yes, we should fly the flag that way, but as Martin Luther King compassionately pointed out…nations are usually deceived about themselves. Most Americans still don’t see the extent of distress of America and her last mile.

My children go to a nice private school that had a drill today–they prepared for a gunman coming into the school and going on a killing rampage. They actually practiced a lock down and described such a situation to the children! If that isn’t an illustration of our distress, I don’t know what is-especially with a backdrop of illegal, unjust wars!

America is a war nation…not just a nation at war. This kind of tragedy @ virginia tech is the new American harvest for the maturing seeds of injustice we have planted in the world and here at home.

We reap what we sow as individuals and as a nation…I hate to think what kind of bumper crop we’ll get from our torture and DU seeds.”
