Free At Last!

My Fellow Americans,

It’s January 15th, 2008, another day has come and gone. 3,923 American soldiers have been killed in Iraq so far. It’s still anybody’s guess how many civilians have been killed. But it’s not all bad news, there is hope. Watching CNN right now I’m seeing Dr. Ron Paul coming in 4th, above Rudy “9/11″ Giuliani and Fred Thompson. Not bad for a man who has the power of the mainstream media, corporate interests, and the federal government stacked up against him. That’s because he’s got the American people stacked up on his side— WE are many, THEY are few. This is a Revolution in progress.

Whenever I tell people about Ron Paul, what he stands for, what he wants for our country, etc. I inevitably hear: “sure, I want that too, but he’ll never win. What kind of an attitude is that? Isn’t that the point of an election, to vote for the person who best represents your wishes and desires? Who has a dependable voting record that will back up what they claim to believe?

When we teach our children about how democracy works… does it include “well, you see Junior, Mommy & Daddy started off supporting Candidate A, but they didn’t win Iowa and the pundits didn’t talk about him much, so we decided to settle for Candidate B, even though they were funded by pharmaceutical and defense companies, had a sketchy voting record, wanted to stay in Iraq for decades, and were ready to wage war on Iran. But you see, we didn’t want to take the chance of voting for someone who might lose, so we compromised our morals and your future. Sorry, Junior… hope you’re still proud to be an American!”

How have we become conditioned to give up our votes so easily? Wait— I know how. CNN. Fox News. The Columbus Dispatch. The New York Times. Rasmussen Polls. AOL polls. He said, she said.

FORGET THAT.
DECIDE FOR YOURSELF.
DEFEND YOUR FUTURE.
VOTE YOUR CONSCIENCE.
BE THE CHANGE YOU WISH TO SEE.

Aren’t you tired of settling for the lesser of two corporate evils? Tired of endless war? Tired of giving all your money to a wasteful and greedy government that doesn’t care what you want? Tired of the fear-mongering? Tired of having your country stolen from right in front of your eyes? Tired of the hypocrisy? Tired of the Orwellian doublespeak? Wouldn’t you love to give the IRS the finger? Restore the Bill of Rights and the Constitution? All of the above?

GOOD NEWS, my friends!

All candidates are not created equal, we can be FREE AT LAST.

Vote for Ron Paul, get a free country.

  • Greetings comrades and my fellow Amerikkkans. Peace Chicken is wise. Wasted votes? We need to enter the ‘way-back’ machine and dig into some serious history.

In 1900, running as a Social Democrat, Eugene Debs recieved 94,768 votes(William McKinley won the election). Debs then ran as a socialist in every other election and in 1904, running against Theodore Roosevelt(a slightly larger figure in the world and US politics then any candidate in the current election cycle), he got 402,400 votes. In 1908(William H. Taft won the election), he received 402,820 votes. The 1912 presidential election was won by Woodrow Wilson. Name ring a bell? Debs garnered 897,011 votes.

On 6-16-18, in Canton, Ohio, Debs gave one of the most stirring and important anti-war speeches in history. I encourage all fof you to read it. From that famous speech,” The master class has always declared the wars; the subject class has always fought the battles. The master class has had all to gain and nothing to lsoe, while the subject class has had nothing to gain and all to lose-especially their lives.”

Debs was promptly arrested for language used in that speech uner the Espionage Act of 1917. He was sent to Federal Prison for 10 years. While still a prisoner in the 1920 presidential election(won by Warren G. Harding), Debs amassed a staggering 917,799 votes as a Socialist candidate!

Do you think any of those good folks who voted for Debs thought they were just ‘wasting their votes?’ Or, that he, ‘could never win?’

If Eugene Debs were with us today(and whatever you worship knows, we really need him)he would get out from behind his computer and join his beloved proletariet on Monday, January 21st to march with World Can’t Wait to honor the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Please visit http://www.columbuswcw.org to see details. WCW chapter organizer will furnish WCW burning globe posters(as seen in NY Times Ads)to anyone who emails vargo.che@hotmail.com. The chapter needs two people to volunteers to carry the chapter banner during the march. If interested contact vargo.che@hotmail.com.

  • Peace Chicken makes a good point. Eugene Debs ran for president in 1900 as a Social Democrat against the eventual winner William McKinley and received 94,768 votes. Running as a Socialist despite competing against bigger names than any in the current presidential pool, Debs got 402,400 votes in 1904(Theodore Roosevelt); 1908 garnered 402,820(William H. Taft); 1912 annexed 897,011(Woodrow Wilon).

On 6-16-18 in Canton, Ohio Debs gave one of the greatest anti-war speeches in history. I encourage all of you to read it. Using language like this statement,”The master class has always declared the wars; the subject class has always fought the battles. the master class has had all to gain and nothing to lose, while the subject class has had nothing to gain and all to lose-especially their lives.”

Debs was arrested on the spot and charged under the Espionage Act of 1917 and was sent to prison for 10 years. Despite being a prisoner, he again ran for president in 1920(Warren G. Harding)and ammassed a staggering 917,799 votes. Do you think those good folks who voted for him thought they were wasting their votes or that Debs had no chnce of winning?

If Debs were alive today and here in Columbus, on Monday, 1-21-08, he would join the Columbus Chapter of World Can’t Wait, http://www.columbuswcw.org in marching with his beloved proletariet to honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. See chapter website for location/time. Email chapter organizer at vargo.che@hotmail.com if you would like him to bring you an official WCW burning globe poster(as seen in NY Times ads)which you may keep. Two volunteers needed to carry chapter banner; replies to chapter organizer.
