JANUARY 2007 UPDATE : I am so pleased to say that my involvement in the 9/11 Truth movement has moved from beyond this simple, static page to Columbus911Truth.org, another website I’ve created, which is now home to the greatest group this city has ever seen. Columbus 9/11 Truth is here and isn’t going away until we succeed. Since I like to be able to look back at how I got started, however, I’m going to keep this page up.

Call me a conspiracy theorist, call me unpatriotic, whatever you want. While I’ve been interested in the ideas of the 9/11 Truth movement for a couple years now (after watching Loose Change), I was inspired to get more involved in it after watching C-SPAN’s coverage of the American Scholars Symposium: 9/11 + the Neo-Con Agenda. One of the speakers, a decorated Vietnam combat veteran and 2006 Democratic Congressional candidate, Dr. Robert Bowman, said it best:

“If the government has nothing to hide,
then why are they hiding everything?”

Many of the speakers said one the greatest ways we can help the movement is by talking to people, just one at a time. As is often the case with many social and political movements, awareness is the key.

So I’ve decided to start off my quest to spread awareness by making a list of questions I personally have regarding the events of 9/11. In an attempt to remain as objective as possible I’m not going to advocate any particular theory(s), there are plenty of other websites and people doing that.

My goal is to rustle up discomfort in people who blindly follow and trust the government’s explanation. I want to stoke the fire of curiosity in the minds of people who have never even thought to question the official story and were satisfied with the 9/11 Commission Report findings.

Before we can ever hope to get answers, we need a movement of people to demand those answers. I hope this page will encourage you to join me.

Now, let the questions begin:

  1. Why were public officials warned not to fly in the weeks leading up to it?
  2. Why were dozens of members from the Saudi royal family and Bin Laden family personally flown out of the country by the Bush Administration right after it happened?
  3. Why was the Afghanistan invasion ready to be deployed on September 9th?
  4. In a country that claims to have the greatest military in the world and had practiced defense drills including 9/11-type scenerios, how did we have zero air defenses for an hour and 45 minutes?
  5. How were the hijackers who could barely fly Cessna’s at flight school able to control a huge Boeing and aim them with such precision?
  6. How did a few people take over planes full of passengers with just box cutters?
  7. Do cell phones really work at the altitude and speed the calls were supposedly placed at? I tried it on a flight to Boston and had ZERO signal/network from take-off to landing and all altitudes in between. Try it yourself and see.
  8. In the media coverage from that morning, why were reporters and eye-witnesses all talking about explosions before the collapses? Why was that huge detail taken out of the story later?
  9. Why did the WTC buildings suddenly become the first steel buildings ever to collapse from fire? (Don’t assume it was the jet fuel, do some physics research here.)
  10. How did everything in the WTC get vaporized from a collapse? Is this consistent with other building collapses?
  11. Why did the Bush Administration pressure the EPA into assuring the public that the air at Ground Zero was safe to breathe when it is now known to be toxic?
  12. How did one luggage tag with a list of all 19 hijackers miraculously survive when all other wreckage was destroyed?
  13. Where’s footage of the plane hitting the Pentagon, one that actually shows a plane?
  14. What about the other Pentagon surveillance videos, from the gas station and the hotel, why are those kept secret?
  15. Where’s the wreckage of the planes from the Pentagon and Pennsylvania?
  16. Why did all three WTC buildings collapse in a matter entirely consistent with a controlled demolition?
  17. Why was the decision made to “pull” WTC building 7 when it was structurally sound? Why is this building’s story not in the 9/11 Commission Report?
  18. If all scientific opinion and evidence shows jet fuel doesn’t burn anywhere near as hot as needed to melt steel, how did the beams collapse?
  19. What were the explosions heard and seen running down along the sides of the buildings before the collapse?
  20. Why is there scientific evidence of thermite (construction-grade explosives used to cut through steel) found in samples from the pools of molten steel that burned for weeks in the basement of the building site?
  21. Why was almost all of the forensic evidence from the greatest crime scene in our history disposed of as fast as possible and the scrap metal sold and shipped to China?
  22. If the hijackers were from Saudi Arabia and the funding was from Pakistan, why did we attack Iraq and Afghanistan?
  23. If the hijackers were controlled by Osama Bin Laden, why did we let him go and stop looking for him?
  24. Was 9/11 the “catastrophic and catalyzing event— like a new Pearl Harbor” the Project for the New American Century was hoping for, their blank check for war, genocide, and military contracts?
  25. And many more…

There are just too many questions without logical answers for me to feel comfortable with the official story. And because a majority of our past, present, and future domestic and foreign policy decisions are based on the events of this day, I feel the American public deserves to know the truth. What’s the harm in doing a full, truly independent investigation?

Are people afraid the truth might be too much to handle? Afraid to find out 9/11 is just a stepping stone to a far grander plan? Afraid to face the possibility that their own government may have been complicit in the murder of 3,000 of its citizens? What’s the worst that could happen, the official story is shown to be right?

While it is much easier to believe the story given by the U.S. government, I believe it’s our duty as Americans to work for the truth while we still have the freedom to do so. As painful and disturbing as that truth may be.

    WATCH THIS ONE FIRST. An excellent documentary about the families of the victims of 9/11 and their fight to uncover and expose the truth about what happened that day. Available on DVD.
  • 9/11 Revisited, 56 min.
    Examines the idea of whether explosives were used to bring down the buildings. Shows a lot of the mass media’s coverage of the events, including many references to the explosions heard before the collapse. Available on DVD.
  • Everybody’s Gotta Learn Sometime, 1 hr. 52 min. May very well be the most compelling film yet outlining the disturbing and heavily censored facts associated with the worst terrorist attacks in American history. This one provides a great cumulative look at all the people involved within the U.S. Gov’t and all their connections, incentives, and conflicts of interest. Lots of names, dates, and places but don’t get bogged down by that, just take it as a whole.
  • Loose Change: Final Cut, 2 hr. 10 min.
    Quite simply: the documentary that woke me up. Available on DVD.
