Often times numbers alone won’t penetrate the hearts of people who refuse to feel compassion for animals. Massive amounts of death mean nothing to them, they’re unfazed. That’s when powerful visualizations can be a big help.

The two I’m sharing below were created by Mark Middleton, an artist, web developer, and animal advocate who’s posted them for public use at his website: AnimalVisuals.org.

The first makes use of statistics from the USDA NASS Livestock Slaughter 2008 Summary, showing how many animals were killed PER SECOND in the United States last year:

The second visualization is a “Virtual Battery Cage” which gives you the perspective of a “layer” hen (the ones who supply with cheap eggs for omelets and McMuffins) in a factory farm. Press play and you’ll become one of those chickens, crammed in a wire cage with no space to open your wings, no room or material on which to comfortably lay down, no windows, no natural light, sick and/or dead chickens next to you, and the deafening noise of suffering is all you can hear.

There is NOTHING natural about the way these chickens live, it’s pretty much hell:

Thank you to Mark for creating these visualizations, I hope other activists find and use them on their own websites and outreach projects.

* Thanks to @veggietweets and @liberationbc on Twitter for directing me to this.

A year ago today, I was in Boston amongst hundreds of rabid (I say that lovingly) Ron Paul fans in Faneuil Hall.

We were there because 235 years ago, our fellow Patriots took a much-needed stand against their British oppressors. In the spirit of those Patriots, a man named Ron Paul wanted to take a stand against our domestic oppressors.

We were filled with so much energy and hope, I remember the almost palpable energy of the crowd after every speaker would fire us up even more. Rand Paul was there, John McManus from the John Birch Society, and many others.

Oh yeah — not to mention that small feat of raising over $6 MILLION that day.

As the gloom of the dollar crash and Obama’s socialist regime looms over our heads, the holiday stress builds up, and the roads start to ice over, it’s nice to float back to Boston for a bit…

…Back when there was still time for our energy and hope to convert itself to primary wins and an eventual victory in November.

Imagine if only that had happened…?

Let Bush know you are thinking of him this holiday season by sending him an old pair of shoes for Christmas! Make sure when packing up your old shoes for Dubya that the soles are facing upward when the box is opened. This shows your total lack of respect for a lying, murderous and treasonous war criminal.

I also suggest using a Sharpie to write a friendly goodbye message on the sole. Something short and sweet like “You belong in Gitmo”, “War criminal”, “Murderer”, “War is not pro life”, etc. Eight years has certainly given us many names to choose from when it comes to labeling this pathetic excuse for a President.

Are you sick of the two-party system? Are you settling on the lesser of two evils because you don’t think there’s any alternative? Have I got good news for you!

Chuck Baldwin, the Constitution Party candidate for President (endorsed by Ron Paul!) is coming to speak for free tonight at Capital University.

If you want a break from the two-party rhetoric and want to hear some REAL solutions — this event is for you. If you want to see a candidate that’s too dangerous to the status quo to ever be allowed on CNN or Fox News — this is it.

…Wait, who in the heck is Chuck Baldwin??

Good question. I don’t blame you for not knowing anyone besides McBama.

Chuck Baldwin is a citizen of the United States of America just like you and me. The difference is that he is not an elected politician offering the same old political answers. Chuck Baldwin has talked the talk and walked the walk. He doesn’t have a history of flip-flops and he does not test the wind every time he takes a position. Refreshing isn’t it?

After Chuck and his wife Connie were married, he enrolled in Liberty Bible Institute at Liberty University. Since then he’s earned his Bachelor and Master Degrees in Theology and has received two honorary Doctorate Degrees.

Chuck is a founder and minister at the Crossroad Baptist Church in Pensacola, FL. Under his leadership the Church was recognized by President Ronald Reagan.

Chuck Baldwin is also a radio talk show host and an accomplished author. He moderates a daily, a one hour long call-in show where he addresses current event topics from a conservative point of view. He’s also a newspaper and internet columnist whose articles and political commentaries are carried by a host of internet sites, newspapers, and news magazines. Here’s his latest article, A Wasted Vote.

As President, Chuck Baldwin would:

REFORM THE MONETARY SYSTEM by providing no amnesty to Wall Street, ending all unconstitutional spending, cutting taxes, and curbing regulation

REPEAL THE FEDERAL RESERVE ACT and restore constitutional money that is interest-free and backed by gold

ABOLISH THE IRS, ELIMINATE THE FEDERAL INCOME TAX, and restore a tariff-based revenue system

BRING AMERICAN TROOPS HOME and end all undeclared wars

DEFEND THE RIGHT TO LIFE, LIBERTY, AND PROPERTY

PROTECT AMERICAN JOBS by ending international trade agreements such as NAFTA, WTO, and FTAA

RESTORE AMERICAN SOVEREIGNTY by withdrawing from the United Nations and ending all foreign aid

STOP ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION AND REJECT AMNESTY

PROTECT THE LIFE OF THE UNBORN

ELIMINATE FEDERAL CONTROL OF EDUCATION

RESTORE SECOND AMENDMENT GUN RIGHTS

If any of these issues are important to you, I hope you’ll join us tonight.

Finally! I’m not the least bit surprised. There’s no way Ron Paul could vote for anyone BUT Chuck Baldwin. Still— it’s good to see an official endorsement.

Here’s the full post:

A New Alliance – By Dr. Ron Paul

The press conference at the National Press Club had a precise purpose. It was to expose, to as many people as possible, the gross deception of our presidential election process. It is controlled by the powerful elite to make sure that neither candidate of the two major parties will challenge the status quo. There is no real choice between the two major parties and their nominees, only the rhetoric varies. The amazingly long campaign is designed to make sure the real issues are ignored. The quotes I used at the press conference from insider Carroll Quigley and the League of Women voters strongly support this contention.

Calling together candidates from the liberal, conservative, libertarian and progressive constituencies, who are all opposed to this rigged process, was designed to alert the American people to the uselessness of continuing to support a process that a claims that one’s only choice is to choose the lesser of two evils and reject a principle vote that might challenge the status quo as a wasted vote.

In both political education and organization, coalitions are worthwhile and necessary to have an impact. “Talking to the choir” alone achieves little. I have always approached political and economic education with a “missionary” zeal by inviting any group in on issues we agree upon.

This opens the door to legitimate discourse with the hope of winning new converts to the cause of liberty. This strategy led to the press conference with the four candidates agreeing to the four principles we believe are crucial in challenging the political system that has evolved over many years in this country.

This unique press conference, despite the surprising, late complication from the Libertarian Party Presidential Candidate, hopefully will prove to be historically significant.

This does not mean that I expect to get Ralph Nader or Cynthia McKinney to become libertarians, nor do they expect me to change my mind on the issues on which we disagree. In the meantime, why can’t we be friends, respectful of each other, and fight the corrupt process from which we suffer, and at the same time champion the four issues that we all agree upon which the two major candidates won’t address?

Many practical benefits can come from this unique alliance. Our cause is liberty —freedom is popular and is the banner that brings people together. Since authoritarianism divides, we always have the edge in an intellectual fight. Once it’s realized that the humanitarian goals of peace and prosperity are best achieved with our views, I’m convinced we win by working with others. Those who don’t want to collaborate are insecure with their own beliefs.

In the past two years at the many rallies where I talked and shook hands with literally thousands of people, I frequently asked them what brought them to our campaign. There were many answers: the Constitution, my consistency, views on the Federal Reserve, the war, and civil liberties. The crowds were overwhelmingly made up of young people.

Oftentimes I welcomed the diverse groups that came, mentioning that the crowd was made up of Republicans, Democrats, Independents, Liberals and Progressives with each group applauding. Even jokingly, I recognized the “anarchists” and that, too, was met with some applause. In conversations, many admitted to having been Democrats and members of the Green Party and supporters of Ralph Nader, yet they came to agree with us on all the issues once the entire philosophy was understood. That’s progress.

Principled people are not shy in participating with others and will defend their beliefs on their merits. Liberals and progressives are willing to align themselves with us on the key issues of peace, civil liberties, debt and the Federal Reserve. That’s exciting and very encouraging, and it means we are making progress. The big challenge, however, is taking on the establishment, and the process that is so well entrenched. But we can’t beat the entrenched elite without the alliance of all those who have been disenfranchised.

Ironically the most difficult group to recruit has been the evangelicals who supported McCain and his pro-war positions. They have been convinced that they are obligated to initiate preventive war in the Middle East for theological reasons. Fortunately, this is a minority of the Christian community, but our doors remain open to all despite this type of challenge. The point is, new devotees to the freedom philosophy are more likely to come from the left than from those conservatives who have been convinced that God has instructed us to militarize the Middle East.

Although we were on the receiving end of ridicule in the reporting of the press conference, I personally was quite satisfied with the results. True revolutions are not won in a week, a month, or even a year. They take time. But we are making progress, and the momentum remains and is picking up. The Campaign for Liberty is alive and well, and its growth and influence will continue. Obviously the press conference could have been even more successful without the last-minute change of heart by the Libertarian Party candidate by not participating. He stated that his support for the four points remains firm. His real reason for not coming, nor letting me know until forty minutes before the press conference started, is unknown to me. To say the least, I was shocked and disappointed.

Yet in the long run, this last-minute change in plans will prove to be of little importance. I’m convinced that problems like this always seem bigger at the moment, yet things usually work out in the end. Recovering from the mistakes and shortcomings of all that we do in this effort is not difficult if the message is right and our efforts are determined. And I’m convinced they are. That’s what will determine our long-term success, not the shortcomings of any one person.

The Libertarian Party Candidate admonished me for “remaining neutral” in the presidential race and not stating whom I will vote for in November. It’s true; I have done exactly that due to my respect and friendship and support from both the Constitution and Libertarian Party members. I remain a lifetime member of the Libertarian Party and I’m a ten-term Republican Congressman. It is not against the law to participate in more then one political party. Chuck Baldwin has been a friend and was an active supporter in the presidential campaign.

I continue to wish the Libertarian and Constitution Parties well. The more votes they get, the better. I have attended Libertarian Party conventions frequently over the years.

In some states, one can be on the ballots of two parties, as they can in New York. This is good and attacks the monopoly control of politics by Republicans and Democrats. We need more states to permit this option. This will be a good project for the Campaign for Liberty, along with the alliance we are building to change the process.

I’ve thought about the unsolicited advice from the Libertarian Party candidate, and he has convinced me to reject my neutral stance in the November election. I’m supporting Chuck Baldwin, the Constitution Party candidate.

Highlights from Congressman Kucinich’s latest email I received an hour ago:

“America must move from the errant, retributive justice of 9/11 to a healing, restorative process of truth and reconciliation.

Before the Congress adjourns, I will bring forth a new proposal for the establishment of a National Commission on Truth and Reconciliation, which will have the power to compel testimony and gather official documents to reveal to the American people not only the underlying deception which has divided us, but in that process of truth seeking set our nation on a path of reconciliation.

We suffer in our remembrance of 9/11, because of the terrible loss of innocent lives on that grim day. We also suffer because 9/11 was seized as an opportunity to run a political agenda, which has set America on a course of the destruction of another nation and the destruction of our own Constitution. And we have become less secure as a result of the warped practice of pursing peace through the exercise of pre-emptive military strength.

…As we were all victims of 9/11, so we have become victims of the interpretation of 9/11.

…The dominant color of our new national security since 9/11 is neither red, white nor blue. Everyday is orange. Everyday reminders of fear of 9/11 become banal.. Yet we no longer hear the airport announcements nor see the orange colored warnings because they have commonplace standards in our new national security state, as is the Patriot Act, wiretapping, and a host of invasions of privacy and diminution of civil liberties. The Constitution has been roundly attacked by the very people who took an oath to defend it.

There is a powerful desire across America for change, not necessarily from control by one political party to another, but a change from living with lies to living with truth.

…The South African Truth and Reconciliation enabled that nation to come to grips with its past through a public confessional, bringing forward those who committed crimes and having the power to grant amnesty for full disclosure of crimes against the people. Of course, our path may necessarily be different: High US government officials stand accused in Impeachment petitions of violating national and international law. Our continued existence as a democracy may depend upon how thoroughly we seek the truth. I will call upon the America people to join me in supporting this effort.

…The truth can move us forward, as a unified whole, so that we can one day become a re-United States. 9/11 is the day the world changed. It is the day America embraced a metaphor of war. If we are open to truth and reconciliation, we may one day be able, once again, to embrace peace.”

“What would possess people to drive 4 hours in the rain to a city they’ve never been in to ask questions of politicians that cannot even hear their voices? Because the alternative is doing nothing. Wake up please!”

- Statement in We Are Change Ohio’s latest video

Obama was asked yesterday by my friends with We Are Change Ohio about the Federal Reserve and the dollar crisis — aka the ECONOMY, stupid.

Being the perfect puppet that he is, his response was that “the dollar can be strengthened again once our economy is strengthened.”

Yes, that was really his response. So it has nothing to do with the money supply, eh? Nothing to do with printing and printing until we run out of ink? Money backed by gold is just a silly thing of the past? We just need more “faith” and suddenly our dollars become worth something again? Why didn’t anybody else think of that?!

Now I finally understand what the big deal is with Obama. He’s BRILLIANT!

Of course the crowd clapped wildly at such a marvelous answer. Such good little sheep…

Pay no attention to this pesky data Mr. Obama!

He then feigned ignorance when asked about his foreign policy advisor, Zbigniew Brzezinski.

In case you’ve never heard of this elitest puppeteer, he co-founded the Trilateral Commission with David Rockefeller and has all kinds of shady past political dealings I could cite here. He’s Dick Cheney’s soul mate, basically. Nothing about him says “CHANGE.”

Pay no attention to this picture of Brzezinski with Bin Laden in the 70’s Mr. Obama!

At the end of the video you’ll also see Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown, Ohio Governor Ted Strickland, and Senator Obama asked whether they’d support a new 9/11 investigation that the family members are calling for. All of them responded by not responding.

Whoever is considering throwing away their vote on this puppet of the elites and bankers, please consider the impact it will have on your children and how you will go about raising them in a depression. Do you know how to collect and purify rainwater? Do you know how to can your own food after you’ve harvested it? Do you know how to speak Chinese? Do you know how to start a fire using Federal Reserve Notes as kindling? If not, you may want to reconsider your vote.

Without further ado, the video:

07/30 UPDATE: Looks like we just missed Bush in Cleveland yesterday! Dang. Maybe next time. I’ve set up a Google News RSS feed so I’ll be on top of things next time.

Very intrigued by the recent story of 4 people being arrested in Iowa for trying to make a citizen’s arrest of Karl Rove, I decided to look in the Ohio Revised Code to see what our local laws say about the subject. Indeed we are entitled to make citizen arrests:

2935.04 When any person may arrest

When a felony has been committed, or there is reasonable ground to believe that a felony has been committed, any person without a warrant may arrest another whom he has reasonable cause to believe is guilty of the offense, and detain him until a warrant can be obtained.

2935.06 Private person making arrest

A private person who has made an arrest pursuant to section 2935.04 [see above] of the Revised Code or detention pursuant to section 2935.041 of the Revised Code shall forthwith take the person arrested before the most convenient judge or clerk of a court of record or before a magistrate, or deliver such person to an officer authorized to execute criminal warrants who shall, without unnecessary delay, take such person before the court or magistrate having jurisdiction of the offense. The officer may, but if he does not, the private person shall file or cause to be filed in such court or before such magistrate an affidavit stating the offense for which the person was arrested.

Ohio is going to be very active in the next few months as the election gets closer. I say it’s time we start exercising our citizen’s arrest rights, what a powerful tool we have that we aren’t using!

That means if any member of the Bush Administration (war crimes, 9/11, etc.), John McCain (FEC violations), or Obama (violating the Logan Act with his Bilderberg attendance) etc. even steps foot in Ohio — we can get them.

Here are a few felonies to start with (and this is only Bush):

ILLEGAL WAR
George W. Bush has intentionally misled the Congress and the public regarding the threat from Iraq in order to justify a war against Iraq, intentionally conspired with others to defraud the United States in connection with the war against Iraq in violation of Title 18 United States Code, Section 371; [Evidence]

ILLEGAL SPYING
George W. Bush has admitted to ordering the National Security Agency to conduct electronic surveillance of American civilians without seeking warrants from the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court of Review, duly constituted by Congress in 1978, in violation of Title 50 United States Code, Section 1805; [Evidence]

GENEVA CONVENTION VIOLATIONS
George W. Bush has conspired to commit the torture of prisoners in violation of the “Federal Torture Act” Title 18 United States Code, Section 113C, the UN Torture convention and the Geneva Convention, which under Article VI of the Constitution are part of the “supreme Law of the Land;”

George W. Bush has conspired to deny due process to prisoners of war, indiscriminantly bomb cities, transfer prisoners of war from an occupied territory, and planned, prepared, initiated and waged of a war of aggression in violation of U.S. Military Code section 2441, Geneva convention (I Art 3, II Art 18, Art 19, III Art 13, Art 17, Art 33, Art 34, Art 49, IV Art 3), and the 1945 Nuremberg Principles articles 6(a) and (b); [Evidence]

ILLEGAL DETENTION
George W. Bush has acted to strip Americans of their constitutional rights by ordering indefinite detention of citizens, without access to legal counsel, without charge and without opportunity to appear before a civil judicial officer to challenge the detention, based solely on the discretionary designation by the President of a U.S. citizen as an “enemy combatant”, all in subversion of law; [Evidence]

ILLEGAL RELEASE OF CLASSIFIED INFORMATION
George W. Bush authorized the leaking classified national secrets to further a political agenda, exposing an unknown number of covert U. S. intelligence agents to potential harm and retribution while simultaneously refusing to investigate the matter; [Evidence]

ILLEGAL FREEZING OF ACCOUNTS AND RESTRICTION TO FREEDOM OF ASSEMBLY
George W. Bush ordered the freezing of financial accounts without limit to how groups were chosen to be on such a list, and further sets forth that he ordered himself the power to create blacklists of any individual he felt was associated with the aforementioned groups. Thereby creating a system of “guilt by association.” [Evidence]

ILLEGAL USE OF SIGNING STATEMENTS
George W. Bush has attached signing statements to more than one hundred bills before signing them, within which he has made over eleven hundred challenges to provisions of laws passed by Congress, a figure that exceeds the total number of such challenges by all previous presidents combined, and has used this practice to exempt himself, as President of the United States, from enforcing or from being held accountable to provisions of the said laws. By declining to veto bills, and instead attaching signing statements challenging hundreds of laws passed by Congress, he has sought to exempt the executive branch from accountability to said laws, thereby violating Article 1, Section 7 and Article II, Section 3 of the U.S. Constitution. These articles of the Constitution dictate that the president has the option of signing or vetoing a bill, and upon signing the bill to “take care that the laws be faithfully executed.” [Evidence]

It’s time to take matters into our own hands. It’s obvious Congress (with a few notable exceptions) has NO intention of holding the Bush Regime accountable for any of their crimes.

So what say ye, my fellow Ohioans, ready to roll up your sleeves and fill up our prisons?

“At the end of the day, it is the responsibility of the people to govern themselves. We must be willing to hold our civil magistrates accountable to the contract they made with us, which is to uphold constitutional government. It is our duty to “throw off” any system of government that does not secure our liberties and protect our Constitution. And this we have not done.”
- Chuck Baldwin, 2008 Constitution Party Presidential Candidate
