Kucinich Presents 35 Articles of Impeachment Against Bush

UPDATE #3: June 11th, 2008: The House has voted to send the bill to the Judiciary Committee for review. I’d like to note that Rep. Wexler, a co-sponsor of this bill, sits on that committee. Also– Congressman Ron Paul, aka “Dr. No” voted YES this time.

PeaceChicken.com salutes Ohio’s own, Congressman Dennis Kucinich, as he introduced 35 Articles of Impeachment against George W. Bush last night on the floor of the House of Representatives. Let us never forget a very important part of the Constitution:

“The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.”

- Article II Section IV

If only all members of Congress would be so brave. I especially commend the last three articles which relate to the Bush Administration’s crimes of 9/11.

Of course, while he’s doing his JOB trying to save this country and preserve our Constitution, the rest of Congress pays no attention.

C-SPAN: broadcast June 9th, 2008.

From RawStory:

“Resolved,” Kucinich began, “that President George W. Bush be impeached for high crimes and misdemeanors, and that the following articles of impeachment be exhibited to the United States Senate…

“In his conduct while President of the United States, George W. Bush, in violation of his constitutional oath to faithfully execute the office of president of the United States, and to the best of his ability preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States, and in violation of his constitutional duty to take care that the laws be faithfully executed, has committed the following abuses of power…”

The first article Kucinich presented, and many that followed, regarded the war in Iraq: “Article 1 – Creating a secret propaganda campaign to manufacture a false case for war against Iraq.”

…Kucinich, a 2004 and 2008 Democratic candidate for the White House, abandoned a prior attempt to begin impeachment proceedings against Bush in January of this year.

In April of 2007, Kucinich presented impeachment articles against Vice President Dick Cheney, but the effort went nowhere. Kucinich exclaimed that “impeachment may well be the only remedy which remains to stop a war of aggression against Iran.”

Here is the full list of articles, and you can also click here to download the full 65-page document (200k):

5 years and 4,000 dead soldiers later…

I was tempted, but chose not to write a special post on March 19th regarding the 5-year commemoration of the Iraq war invasion/occupation.

Thinking about it all now, so many powerful songs come to mind, lyrics I could post, videos I could share, books I could quote and recommend. But original thoughts? I feel like I’ve said it all already. My thoughts are still the same, my opinions unwavering. If someone is curious as to what I think about the invasion and occupation of Iraq, I invite you to take a look back at all the anti-war posts I’ve written throughout the years. There are twelve pages worth.

What else can I say? What magical words can I string together that will make people stand up and finally decide they’ve had enough? What else is worth repeating, besides:

May the children and families of all those who have been lost in this senseless and immoral occupation— Americans, Iraqis, soldiers, contractors, and civilians— forgive us for our seemingly ambivalent attitudes and apparent inaction. Know that the deeds of this country’s government do not represent the desires or hearts of this country’s people. War without end? NOT IN MY NAME.

Perhaps I’ll have better luck reaching people by posting the words of one of my heroes, a true champion of PEACE: Congressman Ron Paul. A man who’s been to war. A man who has the wisdom and experience to warrant the attention of every American.

On Five Years in Iraq

Five years ago last week, the US military’s “shock and awe” campaign lit up the Baghdad sky. Five years later, with hundreds of thousands of Iraqis and nearly four thousand Americans dead, we should pause and reflect on just what has been gained and what has been lost.

From the beginning, the march to war was paved with false assumptions and lies. Senior administration officials claimed repeatedly that Iraq was somehow responsible for the attacks of September 11, 2001. They claimed that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction. They manipulated the fear of the American people after 9/11 to further a war agenda that they had been planning years before that attack. The mainstream media was complicit in this war propaganda.

Nearly ten years ago, long before 9/11, I requested the time in opposition to the fateful Iraq Liberation Act of 1998, where I then stated on the Floor of the House of Representatives, “I see this piece of legislation as essentially being a declaration of virtual war. It is giving the President tremendous powers to pursue war efforts against a sovereign Nation.” Less than five years later we were invading Iraq.

Today’s the Day, Ohio. VOTE RON PAUL!

RON PAUL 2008

“In this possibly terminal phase of human existence,
democracy and freedom are more than just ideals to be valued —
they may be essential to survival.”
- Noam Chomsky

It’s Tuesday, March 4th, 2008 — Primary Day in Ohio!

Today is the day Ohioans will be tested. Will they vote with their hearts? With their common sense? With their conscience? Will they vote for the man who will bring ALL our troops home NOW? Will they block out CNN, the biased newspapers, and the talking heads? Will they forget the buzz words like “electability”, “long-shot”, and “poll numbers?” Will they realize those are the media’s words, and the media is not voting today, WE are?

You don’t have to tell me twice that our voting system is jacked up. Especially in Ohio. It’s 2008 and we can’t make a machine that can print out a receipt of who we voted for??

That’s no excuse. YOU know who YOU voted for.

I hope my fellow Ohioans will maintain a hint of American idealism and head to the polls for Ron Paul.

By law the polls are required to be open from 6:30AM – 7:30PM. If you’re in Franklin County, click here to find out your polling location information. Union County, click here. Delaware County, click here. Anybody else I missed, if you need help finding out your information, please contact me and I’ll get it for you ASAP! You can also search the Ohio Secretary of State’s website.

“Democracy forever teases us with the contrast between its ideals and its realities, between its heroic possibilities and its sorry achievements.”
- Agnes Repplier

This is your day, Ohio. Do you want heroic possibilities, or sorry achievements?

I’M VOTING FOR RON PAUL TODAY.

Fourth Down and Inches.

Touchdown for Ron Paul!

THIS IS IT FOLKS.
All eyes are on us and Texas.

You really want Ron Paul for President? — It’s time to EARN IT!

Get your butt out there. One last weekend. If not the two events organized by the Columbus Ron Paul Meetup, do something else, ANYTHING. There are over 106,000 of us in Ron Paul Meetup groups across the country — compared to 19,600 for Huckabee, 7,200 for Obama, 1,750 for Hillary, and zero for McCain. The numbers are in our favor, we just have to convert them to ACTION.

As we’ve heard before, it’s all a game of inches.

Time to push on for a few more critical ones, just enough to get the first down. If you don’t wanna push on for yourself, push on for everyone in Ohio. Everyone in our country. All the soldiers overseas who are COUNTING on us to get them back home safely. The 3,973 soldiers who came back home in boxes.

You need more motivation? Download some Ron Paul R3volution music, I’ve uploaded a dozen great songs to my website just for you, turn up the volume, rock out, then hit the streets this weekend!

We’re in hell right now, gentlemen. Believe me. And, we can stay here, get the s–t kicked out of us, or we can fight our way back into the light. We can climb outta hell… one inch at a time.

The inches we need are everywhere around us. They’re in every break of the game, every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone else around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when add up all those inches, that’s gonna make the f–king difference between winning and losing! Between living and dying!

I’ll tell you this, in any fight it’s the guy whose willing to die whose gonna win that inch. And I know, if I’m gonna have any life anymore it’s because I’m still willing to fight and die for that inch, because that’s what living is, the six inches in front of your face. Now I can’t make you do it. You’ve got to look at the guy next to you, look into his eyes. Now I think you’re going to see a guy who will go that inch with you. Your gonna see a guy who will sacrifice himself for this team, because he knows when it comes down to it your gonna do the same for him. That’s a team, gentlemen, and either, we heal, now, as a team, or we will die as individuals. That’s football guys, that’s all it is. Now, what are you gonna do?

- Any Given Sunday

I’m looking at YOU. Will you go these last few inches with me?

Do You Really Support the Troops?

Yes, YOU.

I’m asking you flat out.
I’m questioning your patriotism.

Do you REALLY support the troops?

Then the question of who should be the next President of the United States is quite simple.

We’re quickly approaching the FIVE YEAR commemoration of the invasion and occupation of Iraq. This argument is well beyond a question of whether or not you sport a yellow ribbon on the back of your car. It’s beyond whether you think we should “stay the course”, set a timetable for leaving, or get out immediately. It’s beyond being a Democrat, Republican, Independent, Green, Libertarian, etc. It’s about being an AMERICAN and a HUMAN BEING.

The fact is— every day that passes is another day our soldiers are being killed and maimed.

“The greatest purveyor of violence in the world today is my own government.”
- Martin Luther King, Jr.

If you claim to support the troops, if not the war itself, shouldn’t you also support the candidate the troops support the most? The man who will bring them home NOW, still ALIVE?

It’s not Barack. It’s not Hillary. It’s not McCain. It’s Ron Paul.

Any excuses— dismissals of “he can’t win”, “I’m not a Republican”, or lapses in electoral faith are not going to save our troops. Understandable lapses in faith, of course. But in the end: YOU know who YOU voted for.

The Ron Paul Revolution is far from over. Not because Primary Day hasn’t yet arrived. Not because the Republican National Convention hasn’t come. Not because Election Day hasn’t arrived. But because our troops are still over there. Iraq, Afghanistan, Korea, Africa… They’re everywhere but HERE. That is why I REFUSE to throw in the flag for the Revolution, and I hope the rest of you will do the same.

So I’m calling you out. Let me ask you again:

Do YOU support the troops?
PROVE IT.

Vote for Ron Paul.

“The chain reaction of evil — wars producing more wars — must be broken, or we shall be plunged into the dark abyss of annihilation.”
- Martin Luther King, Jr.

Sidenote: If this post makes you uncomfortable, angry, whatever— if you think your chosen candidate DOES enable you to honestly say you support the troops, please leave me a comment and refute my accusations, I welcome your thoughts!

Bush’s LAST State of the Union Address is tonight @ 9pm

Are you hesitant to risk the ensuing depression of putting yourself through it, but still feel a civic responsibility to tune in? Fear not, my friends, I have the solution: www.DrinkingGame.us

“The general rules of this game are no different from any other drinking game. A drink is either a shot or a good gulp from a beer (or cider). Different events call for different numbers of drinks and all you do is watch the speech and play along. If all goes well, you’ll be unconscious by the time they show the other party’s response.”

Featuring categories such as foreign policy (troops, Israel, Pakistan, “nukular”), general blather (freedom, progress), and domestic policy (stimulus, economy, Homeland.)

* * * Be alert for bonus drink opportunities, like if Bush pronounces “Mahmoud Ahmadinejad” correctly! If he discusses redeploying the troops, that’s when you “redeploy the contents of your beverage into your mouth.” If the camera shows a close-up of Nancy Pelosi (without Bush in the shot) you have to do a shot without moving any of your facial muscles— and other fun bonuses.

I’d like to add my own personal bonus — if Bush says “RON PAUL” at any time, you must immediately finish the entire bottle of whatever you’re drinking. If it’s beer, finish off the case!

Cheers, mateys!

Tonight’s Republican Debate on Fox News — full of surprises.

Here’s what I learned from tonight’s surprising debate chock full of new questions and equal response time:

  • Gay marriage : BAD. I know I don’t need to point out the obvious: that this is the most important issue facing our country today. Children need a mother AND a father, see. Got that, single moms and widows?
  • Pro-life : GOOD! Unless they’re babies in the Middle East, Asia, or Africa, those we don’t mind killing.
  • The military budget : TOO SMALL! Spending more than every other country in the world combined is not enough. No wonder Iran and Russia are standing up to us, we don’t spend enough on defense!
  • Hillary: BAD. And apparently the only Democratic party candidate.
  • Mitt Romney: PRETTY.
  • Diversity: BAD. Obvious from the demographic make-up of the audience. Or maybe there aren’t any black people in Florida?
  • Ron Paul: BAD. Not enough war-talk. Me need more war! Won’t spend enough imaginary money and bankrupt our future generations. BOOO!!!

Ron Paul, the only passionate and not-full-of-s—t speaker up there, was booed multiple times, including when he talked about non-interventionism and this crazy idea of TALKING with other countries instead of immediately bombing them. There was also booing at his mention of leaving Iraq. You can be sure those that booed are the people proudly shipping their children over there right now.

Here it is, not even November 2007, and already the election has been decided.

You all know this right? It will be Hillary vs. Giuliani whether you like it or not. Forget that we haven’t held a single primary yet, the media has already declared it thus, and so it must be. Giuliani could have stood up there and quacked like a duck the whole time and the commentators afterwards still would have said,

“The obvious front-runner is Giuliani, he did everything right tonight.”

Likewise, there may as well be no other candidates running for the Democratic party nomination, Hillary has already been dubbed The One.

The only way out of this — our only hope — is if we can get people to quit watching these ridiculous “debates”, do their own research on the candidates using objective sources of information (no campaign websites or corporate-owned media websites) and not base their opinions on what ANY members of the mainstream media say. If people would look up voting records, campaign contributions, find out who owns the TV stations they’re watching, and weigh the factors that truly qualify someone to be President — Giuliani, Hillary, and many others would be removed from the equation in a heartbeat, and the media could take their spoon-fed “2+2=5″ rhetoric and shove it up their doublespeak arses.

Get people to do their own research? Turn the TV off and f—k the media?

Yeah, I know, we’re screwed.

P.S. Why no follow-up poll, Fox News? Don’t like the way those pesky non-scientific and easy-to-hack measures of public opinion have been turning out lately?
